This is pretty new to the market, but we absolutely love the product. We endorse Hanna fully as the best company in the United States producing pH meters, and this product will really make you happy. The meter links to your iPad or iPhone, and feeds real time data directly. It offers data logging abilities, and is very accurate.
If you want to data log throughout fermentation you MUST cover the top of the meter with a small, plastic bag or similar, and tape around the base of the bag to prevent the high humidity during fermentation from ruining the circuits as the top of the meter is NOT water-proof or resistant.
This foodcare pH electrode features a glass sensing portion made of low-temperature glass in a PVDF body. This electrode has a unique open junction design in which there is a viscolene (hard gel) electrolyte layer that is free of silver chloride (AgCl) between the sample to be measured and the internal reference cell. The open junction design resists clogging and the probe’s conical tip makes it ideal for pH measurements in food products including dairy, dough, ground meats and other semi-solid food samples.
All readings are transmitted directly to an iPhone or iPad® (not included) running the Hanna Lab App.
It comes with 2 general cleaning solution packets, 2 single use pH calibration buffers of both 4.01 and 7.01, and 15mL vial of electrode storage solution (what filled the holder on the tip of the electrode).
